Composition

Each tablet contains:

Terbinafine hydrochloride equivalent to Terbinafine 250 mg

Inactive ingredients may vary according to manufacturer.

Mechanism of Action

Terbinafine is an allylamine antifungal agent.

It works by inhibiting the enzyme squalene epoxidase in fungal cells. This blocks the synthesis of ergosterol, an essential component of the fungal cell membrane.

As a result:

  • Ergosterol deficiency weakens the fungal cell membrane
  • Squalene accumulates inside the fungal cell
  • The fungal cell dies

This action makes terbinafine fungicidal against dermatophytes.
